NORCROSS — Gwinnett County police are investigating a double homicide that unfolded across two locations Thursday night and led to the arrest of a suspect in Tennessee.

Officers responded just after 10 p.m. to a report of a shooting on the 3200 block of Windscape Village Lane in Norcross, where they found a man with a neck wound and a witness at the scene. As officers gathered information, they were notified of a second scene roughly 15 miles away — a vehicle near Harbins Road and Harbins Point Lane in Lilburn with two people inside who had been shot. Both were pronounced dead.

Detectives and crime scene investigators processed both locations, interviewed witnesses and determined the incidents were connected, according to police.

Investigators identified the suspect as Javier Aragon Ruiz, 54, and learned he had traveled into Tennessee. Tennessee State Troopers later located his vehicle and took him into custody. Aragon Ruiz is being held at the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in Springfield, Tenn.

The names of the victims will be released once family notifications are complete.
