LAWRENCEVILLE – Community members gathered at Alexander Park on Saturday, Oct. 4, to take part in the Dash 4 Domestic Violence Awareness 5K, hosted by the Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office.

The event aimed to raise awareness about domestic violence and generate support for survivors through education, outreach, and community engagement. Residents participated by walking, jogging or running the 5K route, while others contributed by sponsoring the event or volunteering.
Proceeds from the race will support three local organizations that provide critical services to survivors of domestic violence: Mosaic Georgia, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, and Ahimsa House. These nonprofits offer shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, and public education programs.
“This is our third annual Dash for Domestic Violence Awareness 5K, and it’s grown,” said Solicitor General Lisamarie N. Bristol. “I’m excited about the work we’re doing in the community to bring resources and awareness to the issue. Supporting survivors is a priority for my administration, and we’re going to continue doing the work.”
The 5K served as both a fundraising event and a platform to highlight the ongoing issue of domestic violence, which affects millions of individuals across the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one in four women and nearly one in 10 men have experienced sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

The Gwinnett Solicitor General’s Office continues to promote prevention efforts by connecting residents with resources and hosting educational events throughout the year. The 5K marked a key moment in these efforts, bringing together residents, advocates, and local organizations in a shared mission to help end the cycle of abuse.
The event also featured educational booths, informational materials, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about available services and how to support those impacted by domestic violence.
With growing community engagement and ongoing support, the Dash 4 Domestic Violence Awareness 5K is expected to remain a staple annual event in Gwinnett County.
