Cause of Buford house fire under investigation

The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a Buford house fire.

Hall County Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire at 9:40 p.m. Sunday evening, Dec. 11, in the 3600 block of Maple Valley Drive in Buford. There, crews found the two-story home ablaze with the bulk of the fire located in the attic toward the left side of the structure.

Firefighters were able to enter the residence and attack the flames from inside. A search of the home was completed and no one was found inside. Due to the extent of the fire in the attic area, crews relocated outside to continue their efforts.

According to Hall County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger, aerial operations were deployed to gain a better vantage point above the attic. Crews remained on scene Sunday night to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents of the home who were displaced by the fire, but Ledsinger said the homeowners opted to make other arrangements.
