BUFORD  — The Buford Wolves opened their 2025 state playoff run in dominant fashion, sweeping Colquitt County in a best-of-three series Monday at the Buford Softball Complex. Behind explosive two-out hitting, powerful bats, and lights-out pitching, the Wolves took Game 1, 7-0, and closed out the series with a 14-0 win in Game 2.

In the opener, Buford scored all seven of its runs with two outs. Junior Brooklyn Atha sparked the offense with her ninth home run of the season — a two-run blast to center field in the first inning. Senior Caroline Stanton followed with an RBI single to bring home LG Goldin, who had tripled earlier in the frame.
The Wolves added to their lead in the second inning when Senior Summer Castorri drove in Junior Janie Goldin with a two-out single, and Senior Addie Rackley followed with a hit of her own. Atha then delivered again with a two-run triple over the right fielder’s head to make it 6-0. Junior Ella Pierce Hensley capped the scoring with a solo home run in the third.
Stanton (10-0) dominated in the circle, throwing a complete-game one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and just one walk.
