Meet Hope Fowler, a senior at Buford High School.  Hope is the daughter of Dr. Chris and Joy Fowler. She has an older brother, Alex, a 2015 BHS graduate.  Hope is a Buford native. She has a packed schedule being very active in both school and non-school activities.

Hope participates in Chamber Chorus, Advanced Dance, Musical Theatre, Literary Team, Student Leadership Team, One Act Play, and is the chapter president of Becca’s Closet at BHS. She is an A student even with her busy schedule and taking AP classes. Her dance teacher Ms. Ashley Smith says, “Hope is a talented student, but above that Hope is a hard worker.”

Hope says that one of her favorite teachers has been Ms. McClure, her ninth-grade language arts teacher. “Ms. McClure is a fun and supportive teacher. I still visit her and she still keeps up with my accomplishments,” claims Hope. She also really enjoys her AP Lit class with Dr. Harris.  Hope was telling about how much she is learning from Dr. Harris and what an awesome teacher he is. Dr. Harris has some pretty high praise for Hope as well, “What I most enjoy about Hope is the brightness and positive energy that she displays on a daily basis. She always radiates joy. Hope is supremely talented, as evidenced by her many accolades for her vocal performances, but she is also witty and funny and scholarly. I’ve enjoyed watching her grow up in our school and I’m thrilled to teach her in my AP English class this year!”

Hope’s father is a gifted musician and the school district’s Fine Arts Director, her mother is a professional vocalist, and her brother attends college for musical theatre so it should come as no surprise to learn that Hope is musically gifted as well. She has too many accomplishments to list. A few highlights include All-State Chorus (8th-11th), 2019 Literary State Champion Girls Soloist, two-time Literary State Champion Girls Trio, runner-up Literary State Champion Girls Trio, Variety Show soloist (9th-11th), and was one of two BHS students selected for this past summer’s Governor’s Honors Program at Berry College. For four weeks, 600 of the best and brightest junior and senior high school students reside on a college campus and receive advanced to collegiate level instruction in academics and specific instruction in their major area. Hope was selected for Vocal Music.

On top of her many school obligations, Hope finds time to lead worship with her family at their church, volunteer at SafeHouse Atlanta Outreach, sings with the Grammy Award-winning Gwinnett Young Singers, will sing on September 14 with the “Kingdom Hearts” world tour for the second year, and at Christmas Hope will sing at Atlanta Symphony Hall with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the Morehouse Glee Club.

Hope is the reigning Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen and placed third runner-up in the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen pageant this past June in Columbus among a very talented group of young ladies. She has since been busy making appearances as Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen including being a featured singer and dancer at this year’s Miss Atlanta and Miss Historic Buford pageant event. Every pageant winner has a platform that they promote for awareness.  Hope chose Becca’s Closet, a nonprofit that receives gently used or new formal dresses so that young ladies who normally would not be able to afford to buy a Homecoming or Prom dress are able to get a gorgeous dress to attend their dances.

“We are very proud of Hope and her many accomplishments during her tenure at Buford High School. When we talk about “Triple A Excellence” to our students, we could use Hope as an example for our underclassmen to follow,” states BHS Principal Mr. Lindsey Allen. “She is hard working in the classroom, dedicated to growing as a performer, and represents our school very well in all she does. Hope is a bright light at BHS and we are glad to have her one more year.”

Hope personifies what a Buford Wolf should be…intelligent, hard-working, family and community-oriented, accomplished, kind, and gives back to her community.
