A Buford man, later identified as Jesus Daniel Bibiano Ruiz, 25, is accused of participating in a home invasion Wednesday, May 4, in Doraville, along with a woman, Wendy Perez, 30, from Arkansas. The pair were later arrested following the work of multiple agencies.

Officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department responded to the home invasion call shortly after 4:20 p.m. on Chappell Lane in Doraville.

911 dispatchers were able to learn that a male victim had been kidnapped from the home on Chappell Lane by a male and a female suspect after the suspects took the keys to the victim’s black vehicle. The suspects were later identified as Bibiano Ruiz and Perez.

As officers were responding, they saw the victim’s black vehicle driving away, and Bibiano Ruiz fired shots in the direction of responding officers as Perez drove the car before stopping on Spalding Lane in Sandy Springs,” Gwinnett Public Information Officer Hideshi Valle said.

Police said Bibiano Ruiz then fled on foot but was located later by a Gwinnett County K9 unit. Perez was arrested by officers as soon as the vehicle stopped.

According to law enforcement, Bibiano Ruiz and Perez admitted to being at the victim’s home during the investigation and interview.

The investigation was a combined effort of multiple agencies, including the Gwinnett County Police Department, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Sandy Springs K9 units.

Bibiano Ruiz is charged with home invasion, kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery and aggravated assault against law enforcement. Perez is charged with home invasion, kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle and armed robbery.

Both remained at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
