COLUMBUS — Buford continued its dominant postseason run with a 16-1, three-inning victory over East Coweta on Saturday at the South Commons Softball Complex to win the GHSA Class 7A championship game.

Freshman shortstop LG Goldin powered the Wolves’ offense, driving in six runs on two hits, including a three-run home run in the third inning that ended the game via the run rule. She also doubled in the first to drive in three.

East Coweta struck first in the top of the opening frame when Izzy Kelleher drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in a run. But Buford quickly took control in the bottom half, plating five runs on five hits to take a 5-1 lead. Goldin’s bases-clearing double provided the big swing in the inning.

The Wolves extended their lead to 9-1 in the second, highlighted by a three-run home run from senior Caroline Stanton and an RBI double from Summer Castorri.

Buford put the game away in the third, scoring seven more runs on six hits. Addie Rackley drove in two with a single, Brooklyn Atha added a sacrifice fly, Ella Pierce Hensley delivered an RBI single, and Goldin’s three-run homer sealed the 16-1 victory.

Stanton earned the win in the circle, allowing one hit and one run over three innings while striking out four.

Buford tallied 14 hits overall. Hensley, Stanton, Castorri, Rackley, Kadyn Gabrels, and Goldin each collected two hits. The Wolves were flawless defensively, committing no errors and turning one double play.
