Buford Academy third-grader Sydney Washburn loves to read — she made the Million Word Club by October and has already read more than three million words so far this school year! These accomplishments make her an outstanding choice for Reader of the Week.

“With being in the Million Word Club, Sydney is able to check-out up to five books and she definitely takes advantage of this opportunity,” said Lana Nix, media specialist at Buford Academy. “Sydney will bring those five books back to check out more within just days.”

Sydney enjoys reading fantasy books about adventures, including The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer and the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling. Her teachers are Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Kist. When she’s not reading, Sydney enjoys playing with her friends and climbing trees.

Sydney’s parents are Rachel and James, and she has three siblings — Macy, 5, Eliza, 4, and a twin sister named Isabel. Sydney is one minute older than her twin sister. The family has a Boston terrier dog named Layla, and Sydney loves ALL animals. She enjoys spending time with her family and really likes to work with her dad in his workshop creating items out of wood.

Way to go, Sydney, and keep on reading!
