FLOWERY BRANCH — The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Flowery Branch over the weekend.
Investigators identified the victim as Mallory Jane Whitaker, 50, of Gainesville, and the gunman as Adrian Gabriele Alexander, 51, of Flowery Branch.
According to the sheriff’s office, Alexander shot and killed Whitaker at his home Saturday afternoon before turning the gun on himself. The couple’s 9-year-old child was inside the residence at the time of the shooting but was not physically harmed.
Deputies found Whitaker dead at the doorway of the home in the 5400 block of Bushnell Court and discovered Alexander deceased in the basement. Investigators said the child witnessed the shooting and contacted a friend on FaceTime, leading to the 911 call.
The case remains open as investigators continue to determine the circumstances that led to the shootings.
