• Girls’ Two Week Round Up:

The Lady Wolves had a tough loss last Tuesday in Duluth against a good Lovejoy team at the Big South Shootout. Lovejoy edged out Buford 55-49. Coach Gene Durden contributed the loss to his team’s slow start, not matching Lovejoy’s energy level. The Lady Wolves battled back against Lovejoy with Audrey Weiner scoring 15 points. Buford led Lovejoy when Preston Reid scored at the top of the third but Lovejoy was determined to take the win.

In Buford, the Lady Wolves ran roughshod over Clarke Central with a 77-33 victory on January 3rd. Eleven different players scored led by Casey Jones with eleven while Mary Walters and C.J. Johnson each poured in ten. Buford improves to 10-3 on the season and 4-0 in region 8-AAAAA action.

Friday night’s Region 8-AAAAA play saw Buford take home the win over Walnut Grove at Walnut Grove. C.J. Johnson led the Lady Wolves with 15 points with Tate Walters scoring eleven, Mary Walters and Ebony Grant scoring nine each to give Buford a final score of 75 to Walnut Grove’s 27.

Bassette finished with 14 while Kezayah Hollimon added 13 and Mekala Fuller also had 13. Lanier girls are now 13-3 on the year.
